Tropical Reef Shipyard

Tropical Reef Shipyard is located in the industrial area of Cairns Australia, some 5 mins from the CBD.

The main gateway to Cairns is its airport, which has international, domestic and general aviation terminals, and is served by major international, national and state air carriers.

International visitors can fly direct to Australia with Cairns as their point of entry, with flights from Air New Zealand, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Europe & the UK, and outbound to these destinations and to the United States of America.

Tropical Reef Shipyard (TRS) has been in operation for over 25 years and has earned a reputation in the shipping industry as the leader for the Western Pacific region in ship repairs and maintenance.

TRS is patronised by shipping owners from the local area and the Asia Pacific region, including Papua New Guinea, Yap, the Marshall Islands, Pohnpei, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Tahiti and the Solomon Islands. Ship repair and maintenance is catered for by a 3000 tonne slipway and a 300 tonne dry-dock.

Our Quality Management Systems have been assessed by AJA Registrars and registered against the requirements of BS EN ISO 9001:2000/AS/NZS. TRS is also licensed under the Environmental Protection Act 1994 as a Boat Maintaining and Repairing Facility.

TRS commitment to the environment is demonstrated by the use of our tidal gates. Developed in-house and assisted by a small government grant, this gate assists with the environmental control of blasting waste from entering the confines of the Trinity Inlet.
